Symptoms

After installing MaxWrite© 97/2000, you open Microsoft® Word 97 or Microsoft® Word 2000 and the MaxWrite© button does not appear on the toolbar.

Cause

The StartUp location under File Locations may be invalid (ie, it does not exist). You can check if StartUp location is valid by:
  1. Opening Microsoft® Word 97 or Microsoft® Word 2000.
  2. Select Tools, Options, File Locations
  3. To check if the StartUp location exists:
    1. Select the StartUp location.
    2. Click the Modify button.
    3. The Modify Location dialog is displayed.
    4. If the Folder name is displayed as C:\ it means that the current StartUp location folder does not exist.
    5. If the StartUp location folder does not exist, select your start location folder and click OK. The default StartUp location for Microsoft® Word is
      C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Startup
    6. Click OK.
    7. Click OK to apply the correct StartUp location folder.
  4. Close Microsoft® Word.

Resolution

To fix this problem:
  1. Set a valid StartUp location folder as outlined in the Cause section above.
  2. Ensure Microsoft® Word is closed.
  3. Remove MaxWrite© via Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Install MaxWrite© again.
