No Toolbars in Microsoft Word

Symptoms

There are no toolbars in Microsoft Word and when closing MaxWrite or Microsoft Word you receive an error message stating 'Run-time Error '5': invalid procedure or argument'.

Cause

Unknown.

Resolution

1. Click on the Start menu and select Run.
2. The following dialog box will appear.
   Enter Regedit in the Open field and click the OK button.
   
3. The Registry Editor will open. Navigate to the following registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Word\Data.
   
4. Select that Data key as you would a folder in windows explorer.
5. Select the Registry menu and then select Export Registry File...
   
6. The Export Registry File dialog box appears as below. Save the registry file in a location on your PC so that it can be easily located and reinstalled back to the registry if the need arises.
   
7. Once the file has been exported then right click the Data key and select Delete.
8. Exit the Registry Editor.
9. Restart Word.
